Jack Fabri became the new coach of the Kahoks during the 1945-46 season. He previously coached at Springfield Cathedral and guided them to the State Tournament.

With two regulars back, Coach Fabri had to do a lot of rebuilding. Lacking height, he recruited every tall boy in school to try out for the team. After losing the opening game of the season, the young Kahoks went on to win nine of their next ten games and placed fourth in the Mt. Vernon Holiday Tournament. The Kahoks dominated the Conference and brought home another championship.

The Regional Tournament proved to be easy as they breezed through the three games

In the opening game of the Sectional, the Kahoks played Greenville, a team they defeated by a big score earlier, but had to go into a sudden death overtime to win the game. The next game they defeated East St. Louis for the championship to earn a trip to the State Tournament.

The first game in Champaign was a victory over Springfield Cathedral. The next game was against a good East Rockford team that proved to be too much for the Kahoks.

Coach Fabri, in his one season, compiled a record of thirty wins and ten losses.
